Across Europe, accessing affordable and quality housing is becoming increasingly difficult. A profit-driven housing market, growing urbanisation, and the rise of second homes for tourism or study continue to intensify pressure on housing systems. At the same time, the climate crisis demands swift action. Yet certain green policies – such as urban greening, densification, or energy retrofitting – can unintentionally trigger effects like gentrification and displacement, placing additional strain on communities already facing housing insecurity.

The new explainer video illustrates how ReHousIn examines these intersecting challenges and works to understand how environmental policies can be designed to support – not undermine – housing equity.
