Case study report - Veszprém

Veszprém is a historical city in Hungary, located 120 km west from Budapest, and 10 km north from Lake Balaton. The city has a strong historical foundation, which is still manifested in its rich cultural heritage (one of the reasons why it was the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2023). The city – as many of the cities in Hungary – experienced a forced industrialisation in the socialist era, and experienced the collapse of the industry after the regime change. Still, its economic revitalisation was successful, and with a stable population and an attractive environment it became one of the most desired middle-sized towns in Hungary with housing prices similar to Budapest.
